Link to Download Data Files
In order to complete the textbook tutorials, and the review assignments you'll be publishing for grading, you will need to download a set of data files using the link below.
Data Files for ALL Users (PC/Mac/Linux)
Click on the link above ⇑ to download your student data files. In some Web browsers, like Internet Explorer, you can right-click the link above and choose "Save target as . . ." to choose where to save the file on your computer.
A note
about zip files: The student data files have been compressed
("zipped") for quicker download. In order to open a compressed ("zip") file, you will need a utility to un-compress them.
If you are using a PC running a newer version of Windows you already have
a zip extraction utility installed. If you are using Windows 95, 98, ME (my condolences)
or a Mac computer and do not have an unzip utility already installed on your computer, click the
appropriate link below to download and install the free version of WinZip on your computer (you can quickly install the program using the default options of the WinZip installer program).
PC Users:
WinZip
(when the "Download WinZip" screen appears click on the
button.
Mac Users:
WinZip Mac Edition 2 (on the Cnet "Welcome WinZip Mac users"
screen click on the
button.
Step 1 Click on the Data Files for All Users link above. The data files should begin downloading immediately to your computer's Downloads folder.

What To Do After Data Files Are Downloaded
After you have downloaded the data files, they will need to be extracted (unzipped) into a new folder on your computer. The following instructions
I recommend you save the Data Files to your My Documents/My Web Sites folder. If you don't already have a My Web Sites folder you can create it while downloading the Data Files.
Step 1 Right-click on the link for the Data Files at the top of this page.
Step 2 Click on Save target as... from the context menu that appears.
Step 3 When the Save As window opens it will most likely already be opened to your My Documents folder. If it is not displaying the contents of your My Documents folder then you will need to navigate to your My Documents folder and open it. In your My Documents folder look for a folder named My Web Sites. If you have such a folder double-click on it to open it. If you don't already have a My Web Sites folder you will need to click on the
button and type My Web Sites as the name of the new folder and then open it. Once you have navigated to the My Web Sites folder click on the Save button at the bottom-right of the Save As window and the Data Files will begin downloading to your computer.

Step 4 Once the download is complete click on Open Folder in the Download complete dialog box.
Step 5 Right click on the icon for the CSIS115ADataFiles.zip file you just downloaded and choose Extract All... from the context menu that appears.
Step 6 Click Extract in the Extract Compressed (Zipped) Folders dialog box and a new CSIS115A folder will be created in your My Websites folder with all of the files you need to complete the tutorials and review assignments for this course.
That's it, you've finished downloading and unzipping your Data Files.
Next you need to configure your IDE (Visual Studio or other) to use these Data Files to complete your weekly tutorials and assignments, see the Visual Studio How to Open A Website tutorial or the IDE Tutorials section on the FTP Publishing page for instructions on how to do this using other IDEs.
