Course Description
This course is designed to validate the foundational skills that an operating systems professional needs in order to implement, manage, and maintain the network infrastructure that supports Microsoft server operating systems (Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and more recent versions). This course helps students prepare for the Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator Core examination Exam 70–291: Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure.
Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to do the following:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of  how to implement, manage, and maintain IP addressing by relating to situation requiring the TCP/IP protocol and DHCP.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to combine concepts, principles, and generalizations about name resolution by designing DNS Server services.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to combine concepts, principles, and generalizations about network security by creating network administration procedures, software update infrastructures, protocol security tasks, MMC configurations, Kerberos infrastructure, event viewer logs and network monitor captures.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to combine concepts, principles, and generalizations about maintaining routing and remote access routing, by setting up remote access user authentication, TCP/IP routing, and VPN.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to make a judgment on the effectiveness of a network infrastructure by appraising network traffic, connectivity, and server services.

The Midterm and the Final are timed and you only have ONE opportunity to take and complete them. So be sure you're ready before clicking to start an exam. The Midterm and the Final are found by clicking on “Tests”.

If you are unable to complete this class for any reason be sure to submit a withdrawl slip to Admissions. If you are on my roster by the end of the class you will be graded based on the total amount of points you've accumulated for completing quizzes and/or submitting assignments. It is not my responsibility to drop you from the course. You may however, at the instructor's discretion, be dropped from the course after 3 or more un-excused absences.

Classroom Etiquette:

  • Every student will treat every other student with courtesy and respect.
  • There are no food or drinks allowed in the classroom.
  • When using computers in the classroom, students will strictly adhere to the MSJC Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Any student with 3 or more un-excused abscences may be dropped by your instructor.

  • Any student who plagiarizes the work of any other person will be given a zero on any and all assignments where plagiarism has been utilized.
  • Any student caught cheating on a quiz or final exam will receive a zero for quiz or final exam.
  • Any student caught removing items from the classroom including but not limited to: lab materials and tools, without authorization, will be dropped from the course and given an automatic "F".

Learning Environment

All students are entitled to an environment that encourages learning. If a student behaves in a manner that negatively affects other class members, he or she is guilty of disruptive behavior.
